Gemcowool® is vacuum formed into a variety of flat or curved shapes to meet customers' lower-temperature insulating requirements with exceptional economy. Gemcowool® shapes can be utilized in many of the same applications as refractory ceramic fiber insulating shapes, provided temperature does not exceed 2100°F (1150°C). They are also useful as backup material for other types of refractories.

Low thermal conductivity, low heat storage, and excellent insulating properties make Gemcowool® shapes important conserves of energy. Superior resistance to thermal shock permits quick heatups and cool-downs without cracking or spalling. Non-wetting and high refractory characreristics are distinct advantages.
